
On April 10th and 11th, Students for Prison Education, Abolition, and Reform (SPEAR) hosted a multi-session conference for the first time in seven years. Panel discussions featured academics, activists, authors, attorneys, and formerly-incarcerated individuals. The topics were: Surveillance,Technology, and the Built Carceral Environment; Police Violence and the War on Drugs; Immigration Detention and the Surge of ICE; Fighting for Second Chances: The State of Clemency in New Jersey; Navigating the Inequalities of the Carceral System; Theorizing Prison Abolition and Reform, all moderated by SPEAR student members. PPro was a significant financial supporter of this special program.
